Likeability Trumps Capability

I'm going to let you in on a patient satisfaction secret. You won't find this question on a survey, but if you did it would show you why your patients give you a great score verses just a good one. It will show you which patients are likely to leave your practice disappointed and which patients are likely to sue you. What is it? It's your likeability!

It seems so simple at first doesn't it? When a patients likes your doctors, nurses and staff, they will actively look for ways to reward your practice. They'll do it by:

  • Referring their friends to your practice.
  • Being generous on their patient satisfaction survey
  • Paying their bills on time
  • Giving you the benefit of the doubt when things go wrong
  • Saying nice things about your practice at every opportunity

If they don't like your doctors, nurses and staff, they will actively look for ways to destroy your practice. They'll do it by:
  • Complaining to their friends about your practice
  • Being stingy on their patient satisfaction survey
